Actually, why not convert your simple wire bender But with some hand-building help from our Chinese friend Bao Rui, you can in fact produce a wire bender in your garage that will give you a perfect and controllable bend of the wires. Have some easy and fun with this guide for making your own wire bender right in your very home!
Now, for this fun project, you would need some supplies to get started with it. No worries, they are everywhere! What you will need is a piece of wood, a metal bar to make the gauge with, some screws and nuts (I am using 'all thread' in these photos), an adjustable square, pliers and something to drill some holes with. Some of them you can get at a hardware store close to you and maybe some of the materials are in your home. So long as you are prepared and organize everything before getting started!
Step 1: Finding the center of your block This will ensure that you mark it in the correct spot. Your drill is what you will use next! Drill at the center you made through one of the blocks, just make sure you do it carefully now :). Place the hole you make the same size as your metal rod. This is to where the metal rod sits in, so it should be as just-right as possible.
Now, grab the metal rod and insert it through, into that hole you just drilled. Be sure it is tight and does not move around. Next, place 2 screws and screw them diagonally through the wooden block and into the metal rod. This works as a great way to keep it nice and secure, so that the metal rod won't slide around while bending wires.

Now you are going to create a bending jig with some bolts. This is a very unique tool that you use to wrangle the wire into different shapes. Metal rods are attached to the block to make the jig. Ensure the jig is stable and sturdy, so it stays that way over repeated bending of any wire. They are whatever size or shape jig you need, be imaginative!
